CAF and European Commission Forge Historic Partnership
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has partnered with the European Commission to support several major football tournaments in Africa. The partnership, signed by CAF President Patrice Motsepe and European Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef SÃkela, aims to promote African football development and strengthen ties between Africa and Europe.

Highlights of the Partnership
- Tournaments: The European Union will sponsor the African Schools Football Championship, the 2025 and 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, and the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
- Investment: The partnership is part of the Global Gateway Africa-Europe Investment Package, which commits the EU to investing at least €150 billion in Africa by 2027.
- Focus Areas: The investment will also focus on energy transition and healthcare in Africa.
