Lost Seal Causes a Stir in South African Town
A massive elephant seal took an unexpected detour in Gordon’s Bay, a coastal town near Cape Town, South Africa. The young male seal, estimated to weigh around two tons, was spotted wandering through the streets, fascinating locals who captured videos of the unusual sight.

As authorities attempted to contain the seal, it rested its head on a police car and even tried to climb over another vehicle before continuing on its way. Eventually, the seal stopped near a shopping mall, prompting concerns about its safety and well-being.
A team of experts, including marine wildlife specialists and a veterinarian, worked together to sedate the seal and transport it back to its natural habitat. After a successful rescue, the seal was released back into the ocean, and a video of its return was shared on social media, captioned “Sea you later.”
