Ousmane Dembélé wins Ballon d’Or 2025

Ousmane Dembélé, the French forward playing for Paris Saint-Germain, has been awarded the 2025 Men’s Ballon d’Or, becoming one of the elite few to lift football’s most prestigious individual prize.

The 28-year-old stood above stiff competition that included Barcelona’s rising star Lamine Yamal and his PSG teammate Vitinha, among others.

Dembélé’s season was nothing short of spectacular. He played a pivotal role in helping PSG win their first ever UEFA Champions League title, while also securing a domestic double. His overall contributions were major — goals, assists, and match-winning performances all featured heavily.

During his acceptance speech in Paris, he expressed deep gratitude. He thanked coach Luis Enrique, the club’s staff and teammates, and especially his mother. He described the award as “exceptional,” acknowledging that it was not just a personal victory, but one earned alongside his team.

For France, this marks the sixth time a Frenchman has taken home the Ballon d’Or, with the last being Karim Benzema in 2022.
